At Pool Personnel we strive to provide the best possible summer work experience.

Employment typically runs Memorial Day through Labor Day although some of our facilities do open prior to Memorial Day and some are open for a week or two after.

Most of our candidates for lifeguard positions come from the surrounding area. We do not seek international employees as is commonly done at larger companies. We find that by providing excellent leadership at each facility, the opportunity to grow, competitive pay, flexible scheduling, and the possibility for promotion, we typically experience less than 20% turnover overall.

All lifeguard candidates must be at least 15 years old and certified in lifesaving, first aid, CPR and AED. Pool operators, assistant managers and managers must also be certified as Montgomery County, MD pool operators. Applicants do not need to have completed certification in order to apply, and we encourage those planning on training in the spring to apply early before all spots are filled. We provide training and certification classes in lifesaving, first aid, CPR and AED, and typically arrange for an outside contractor to come to us to train candidates as pool operators.

All employees under age 18 are subject to a background check on the Maryland Sex Abuse Registry and those 18 and older are subject to a criminal background check, as required by our insurance provider.

All employees are required to use email to communicate with the manager for scheduling purposes or make other arrangements in person if that is not possible. Employees are required to be in uniform while at work, which means having on a minimum of one article of clothing identifying themselves as a lifeguard. Each new employee is given, at no cost to those employees who work 150 hours or more, one bathing suit, one pair of shorts, one t-shirt, one visor, and one long sleeve t-shirt.
